Acquiring Kingdom Culture

Think about the exodus from Egypt. The people who crossed through the Red Sea had to take up the responsibilities of building a new nation from scratch. The greater exodus will be no different. When folks come into the land, they will have to quickly set up and operate a new nation. The real question is, what is God teaching us by this repetitive pattern? The answer is that there is a still greater application in the future, even beyond the Greater Exodus that will eclipse the exodus from Egypt.

In the future, when God has created a whole new world after the first heaven and earth are destroyed by fire, the Bible tells us that he will populate that world with a select group from across the history of humanity. Even more than those who started over after the flood, that part of humanity will start afresh in a pristine world, in which there is to be only righteousness. Those will be people who will love and obey God, but they will also be experienced world-builders, who have already done it before in a limited way, and who will then be doing it again on a larger scale, with better material.

God is raising up a generation right now that is being made fit for that purpose. A generation that delights to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God (Micah 6:8). A generation that seeks and at the same time rests in relationship with God. One that values and esteems those who love God, but also the hurt and broken, because they also are created in God’s image.

It is a generation excelling in the marketplace, in the home, and in the halls of government. A generation present and potent, working in firehouses, police stations, and military formations. In clinics, factories, and construction sites. In gardens, fields, kitchens, and classrooms. A generation responsibly and energetically using skills from agriculture to metalworking to logistics and technology. A generation serving both the bodies and the souls of men. One effective to heal the sick and afflicted –  physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, A generation excellent at repairing what is broken. Everything from cars and computers, to roads and buildings, to soil and water, to communities and nations. 

This generation that God is raising up is a creative generation; one that walks close enough to God to hear him whisper, inquiring and learning wisdom from the source of wisdom. A generation that is productive and efficient, and responsible. One that solves old problems with fresh innovation. It is a generation creating fresh, original, and beautiful art, architecture and goods that don’t contaminate the world with pollutants and noise. Instead, they compliment and bring harmony to each aspect of life they are created to serve. Things that last, and that are a delight to live with and to use every time they are touched, lived among and lived in.

God is raising up a generation of people who are going into the world every day filled with and inspired by the Love and Purpose of God. People who know God, working out and living out the Mission of God and the Gospel of Christ. A generation building, making, beautifying, and creating, and doing it all to the Glory of God.
